    • Math
    This week we began exploring division. We learned what division means, as well as the terms dividend, divisor, quotient. Students worked through some problems where they could use their knowledge of multiplication to help them find answers.



    Writing
    This week we finished publishing our stories. Students created an "About the Author" page and a book cover for their book. Some students chose to add some illustrations to their book as well. Published stories came home today, please take a look at these while you work through the Virtual Celebration of Learning.

    Wonder Centres
    This week we began a new round of Wonder Centres. Grade 3's centres focused on Rocks and Minerals. Grade 4's centres focused on Waste and our World. For these centres, students worked in groups of two or three to complete activities and experiments that will support their increased understanding of some of these concepts. Wonder Centres have been posted in Google Classroom. On this Celebration of Learning, there are two science activities that are similar to the Wonder Centres for you to explore with your child.

       Important Dates May 30 - Bike to School begins June 7 - Grade 4 visit to TMC June 9 - Class photo retake June 13 - Grade 4 Heritage Park June 15, 16, 17 - Alien Inline Skating June 23 - Sports Day Reading Presentation We had a visit from librarian student Megan. She shared three stories about plants, trees and caring for the environment. Students got to participate in one of the stories using story sticks. Science Students began exploring some concept vocabulary for our work on building. Grade 3s will be looking at structures like towers, bridges and containers. Grade 4s will be looking at simple machines. Students worked in pairs to identify the meaning and characteristics of the vocabulary and used pictures to show what they mean. Students began work on our next round of science Wonder Centres on building.
