Frisbee Rob
This week we had our first assembly of the year. Frisbee Rob came in to teach the students about kindness, challenging yourself and learning from failure. He worked with classes throughout the day on frisbee skills. He has challenged students to cut back on screen time - no screens an hour before bed, no screens at meal times.
Social Studies Wonder Centres
Students began Wonder Centres for Social Studies this week. Each week they will rotate to a new centre. Each centre has a few guiding questions for students to research and a project to complete. Some projects include: infographics, posters, pictograms, podcasts and videos. Grade 3 students are focusing on global citizenship and grade 4s are looking at important groups from Alberta's past and present.
Gorilla and Plant Life Cycles
After completing research on Western Lowland Gorillas (grade 3) and plants from the DRC (grade 4), students began planning out a life cycle. Their life cycles will include a full cycle, and facts that are connected to each stage in regards to appearance, needs, and adaptations. They will be presenting their projects on Monday.
Decimals and Problem Solving
Grade 4s wrapped up their work adding and subtracting decimals this week. Grade 3 students completed addition and problem solving centres.
Art
Today we painted over our crayon art with black paint. Next week, we will be creating a land art design to scratch into the paint, creating an abstract representation of elements of nature.
